UPGRADE works to address the long-standing issues of deprivation in Balgaddy were underway with South Dublin County Council delivering a comprehensive maintenance strategy.

Balgaddy has had storied issues with deprivation, with the 16-year-old estate suffering from a lack of amenities, poor quality housing in breach of human rights, and anti-social issues.

Also this month, Mayor Emma Murphy slammed elected members for ‘milking the system’ when it comes to attending conferences and training seminars.

The Mayor was speaking following Hayden Moore’s analysis of a report on expenses of €1.4m paid to the 40 elected representatives in 2022.

Marion (Branch Manager) and AnnMarie (Member Service Officer) at the Tower CU appeal

A winter woollies appeal by Tower Credit Union saw over 1,500 items donated to people experiencing homelessness.

This is the first year they ran the appeal, since merging with Greenhills and District Credit Union.

Members of the Clondalkin, Citywest, Greenhills, Neilstown and Celbridge branches, and the surrounding communities contributed to the cause in aid of the Simon Community.

Filming took place in Clondalkin for a short film ‘Picture Day’ at locations in St Joseph’s Boys National School and around Monastery estate.

The movie is a co-production between producer Emer Durcan and award-winning writer/director from Clondalkin Jason Branigan.

Commitment for memorial to honour 12-year-old Stephen Hughes

South Dublin County Council said it will keep its commitment for a memorial site and a naming convention in Rossfield, Tallaght, in honour of 12- year-old Stephen Hughes.

The site is where the young boy was killed in 2001, after a makeshift hut he was sleeping in was set on fire.

Over 40 people gathered on Montpellier Hill (Hell Fire Club) on a lovely Easter Sunday morning before sunrise, as part of the ecumenical Son-rise (Son of God) celebration.

Parishioners from Rathfarnham/Ballyboden were led in prayers by Rev Adrienne from the Church of Ireland and Fr Martin from the Catholic Church, both in Rathfarnham.
