ELLYD releases single Tomorrow Be Kind

“I DIDN’T initially set out to create it, but everything changed when the first song came to me—Tomorrow Be Kind, which eventually became the title track.”

This is what Lucan singer-songwriter ELLYD (real name Elaine Doyle) has to say regarding her latest release, coming to streaming on September 5.

She continues by saying that it took a couple of years to complete, and in the end, she had to carefully choose which songs would make it onto the final record.

“Ultimately, I selected the ones I enjoyed creating the most,” she remarks.

To Elly, the album feels both “confident and incredibly delicate—a reflection, I think, of the nature of the songs themselves.”

‘Tomorrow Be Kind’ has been a long time coming for Elly, having wanted to write and record her first album for ‘quite a while’.

The songs came to her gradually over the course of a couple of years, and she believes they reflect where she was in life at the time they were made.

This summer, Elly has worked toward getting a live band together for the launch show, which takes place on September 5 in Whelan’s.

Even though she is a solo artist, she has always written with a full band in mind, so getting back into the rehearsal room with other musicians and hearing the songs in that space has been “really exciting”.

For help with this album, Elly would like to thank her family, who encouraged and supported her; Martin Quinn, who recorded, mixed, and mastered the album; Andrew Quinn, who played drums on the tracks; and Sean Lennon, who created the “incredible” artwork.

Tickets to the Whelan’s show on September 5 are available on www.whelanslive.com; don’t miss it.
