Fundraising page set up for Brazilian student Caique Trindade De Oliveira’s family
By Maurice Garvey
A FUNDRAISING page set up to support the family of Brazilian student Caique Trindade De Oliveira, was forced to increase it’s target due to huge volumes of support.
The GoFundMe page was set up by people from Clondalkin and the Brazilian community in Ireland to support the family of Caique, whose body was recovered in Clondalkin on Monday by the Garda Water Unit.
The page initially had a target of €2,000, but this was increased to €5,000 early on Tuesday, as donations poured through in the wake of the tragic discovery.
Caique (24) was missing since March 6 – prompting an extensive search of the waterway and parkland area in Clondalkin over the last week.
Many members of Clondalkin gardai, the Civil Defence, and Brazilian nationals, combed the area from Corkagh Park/Fonthill Road area, towards the Mill Shopping Centre.
Gardai thanked all volunteers and search agencies who were involved in the search operation.
Caique’s mother Valclecia, has been in Dublin since March 7.
The Echo understands the Brazilian Embassy in Dublin and the Irish Consulate in Brazil are providing assistance.
The GoFundMe page said: “Our thoughts are with his mother at this heart-breaking time. The people of Clondalkin and the Brazilian community can continue to show their support for her by donating to, what will be, substantial costs. A small gesture by many will help reduce her financial burden.”
As of 4.40pm on Tuesday, the GoFundMe page had exceeded it’s €5,000 target.
