Garda station in Tallaght has new-life saving device installed

A NEW publicly-accessible defibrillator was launched outside Tallaght Garda Station last week, adding to the growing number of the life-saving devices in the area.

It is the sixth defibrillator that has been launched by the Tallaght Community First Responders, and it was done in conjunction with An Garda Síochána.

Community garda sergeant at Tallaght Garda Station, Emer Lamon, said the piece of equipment was a welcome addition to the station and several gardaí are already trained in how to use it.

“The garda station is the first place people will come to if they’re nearby and there’s an emergency,” she told The Echo.

“It’s important to know that there’s a defibrillator nearby because sometimes when we’re dispatched to an emergency we’re the first people there, so it’s important to know there’s one near.

“There’s been a very positive response in the station to having the defibrillator there and the knowledge that it’s there if we need to use it.”

The defibrillator is publicly accessible by inputting a code, which can be provided by staff in the station or by the emergency services.
