Gardai arrest two men after seizing gun and ammunition

TWO males have been arrested following the seizure of a firearm in Kylemore on Tuesday evening.

Ballyfermot Gardaí were patrolling the Kylemore area of Dublin 10 just after 5pm on Tuesday, when they started observing two males from a distance.

At one point, Gardaí say that “what appeared to be a firearm was produced” by the two men.

Shortly after, additional Garda units arrived at the scene and the two men were arrested.

Following a search of the area, the gun and ammunition was retrieved by members of An Garda Síochána.

The firearm and ammunition are set to be sent to the Garda Ballistics Unit for analysis.

“The men, who are both aged in their 30s, are currently detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939/98 at Clondalkin Garda Station,” a Garda spokesperson said.

“Investigations ongoing.”
