Going with the ‘Flow’: Teen rapper tops the charts
Hour Hearts Productions is a film, media, and talent management company based in Ballyfermot that has a client, a 13-year-old rapper called Just Josh, whose latest single, ‘Flow’, is currently at the top of the charts on iTunes and Amazon, reports Ryan Butler.
According to producer and filmmaker Paul Ritchie, who founded the company, they recently got approved for funding by Screen Ireland to turn their short film ‘Blind Man’s Bluff’ (which The Echo previously reported on in 2022) into a feature film “set to go into production in late 2024.”.
A horror film by Hour Hearts entitled ‘The Old Hag’ will also begin filming in late 2024.
The company’s talent management branch includes 16-year-old Alex Grendon from Cherry Orchard, as well as Katie Fitzpatrick (15) and Just Josh (13).
May 2024 will see the theatrical release of ‘Ready or Not’, in which Alex played a lead role; the RTÉ drama series ‘Louise Lives Large’ features Katie in the lead role and will premiere in March.
Just Josh recently wrapped production on ‘Among the Wolves’, starring Aidan Gillen and written and directed by Mark O’Connor, which will be released this summer.
Joshua’s music career began with the his first single, “Okay,” which encourages self-care.
He will release another song in February, ‘Dear Slim’, an open letter to Eminem, and this year he will also be putting out his first music video for a song called ‘Industry’.
The success of ‘Flow’ can be attributed to the mentoring that Joshua has received from Versatile, Sello, and Tall-Order/2Storeys, and those at Hour Hearts “fully believe he’s going to be huge by the end of 2024.”
