Gold Cup bet by groom on whether his bride is on time

AN INCHICORE man ensured his wedding would not interfere with his viewing of the Cheltenham Gold Cup – by placing a bet that his wife-to-be would not be late to the service.

Jimmy Carter from Inchicore, had an interesting request for BoyleSports regarding his wedding to Nessa Kenny, in Athlone, on March 18.

Jimmy Carter Bet BoyleSports

Jimmy told BoyleSports that if his wife-to-be was not on time, that the wedding would not go ahead as he was not going to miss the Gold Cup race.

He said: “If it’s not done by 1.30pm, it won’t be done.”

Unbeknownst to Nessa, Jimmy placed a €25 bet on her to be on time for the ceremony at even money.

Aoife Heffron, PR Executive for BoyleSports said: “Jimmy Carter is a fine example of the importance of the Gold Cup to racing fans by going to the lengths of backing his wife to be on time, so he would not miss the race on his wedding day. We would like to thank them for choosing to bet with BoyleSports.”

She added: “As a wedding present from BoyleSports, we would like to invite both newlywed couples to Punchestown on the April 26 for BoyleSports Champion Chase Day.”
