Gregan helps Ireland to eighth in Europe

BRIAN Gregan played his part in helping Ireland finish eighth in the European Team Championships League 1 in Vaasa, Finland last weekend.

The Tallaght man clocked 45.83 on his way to victory in the Men’s 400m Final for which he qualified as the fastest athlete in 46.24.

Gregan also combined with Mark English, Christopher O’Donnell and Thomas Barr to deliver a runner-up finish in the Men’s 4x400m Relay in a time of 3:05.08.

Also competing over 400m was DSD runner Sinead Denny who emerged fifth from her final in 53.68.

And she was a part of the Ireland women’s 4x400m that carded another runner-up finish with Phil Healy, Jenna Bromell and Sharlene Mawdsley also lining out.

Their performances went a long way to seeing Ireland tally 238 points after 40 events with Sweden emerging the winners on 320.5 points.
