Heavy showers forecast as thunderstorm warning issued

A STATUS yellow thunderstorm warning has been issued for this afternoon and this evening.

According to Met Éireann, potential impacts of the forecast thunderstorms include spot flooding and hazardous driving conditions.

The yellow warning is in place from 12pm today until 9pm this evening, Monday, May 8.

Thunderstorms are likely for Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Louth, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Wicklow and Tipperary.

Morning showers are in the afternoon and evening expected to become more frequent and turn heavy or thundery with the risk of spot flooding.

In Dublin, highest temperatures of 17 to 20 degrees are forecast, in a moderate south to southwest breeze.
