THE Aspect Hotel in Park West is planning a major investment – seeking planning permission to almost double the number of bedrooms at their Nangor Road premises.

Plans submitted to Dublin City Council by the hotel owners, Marblegate Limited, detail proposals for a seven-storey extension of 3,700 sq m to the existing hotel (6,837 sq m).

Marblegate are also seeking permission to increase the bedroom size of the hotel from the current availability of 146 bedrooms to 224 bedrooms, should the development get the green light from city planners.

Plans contain proposals for a proposed extension which will consist of 78 bedrooms, a new conference room, kitchen, toilets and all ancillary uses, and accommodation.

Retention permission is sought for part of the existing surface car park, permitted under a previous planning application.

Modifications to the existing surface car park would reduce the existing parking area from 99 spaces to 85 spaces.

However, plans also cater for the inclusion of an additional 26 car-parking spaces to the north of the hotel – bumping up the total number of car parking spaces to 111.

Plans also contain the realignment of access roads to the north and south of the development and include landscaping, lighting, bin-storage shelter and all associated site and development works.

Dublin City Council have yet to make a decision on the planning application.
