Ilieva strikes gold in Thailand

MONIKA Ilieva from South Dublin Taekwondo Club, last weekend, secured gold at the 13th Kasetsart Taekwondo Championship 2022 in Thailand.

The 11-year-old cadet is currently involved in a training camp in Thailand with world-renowned Taekwondo Coach, Master Khem of Taweesilp Taekwondo.

During a break from camp she lined out in the Cadet -37kg division, securing gold after two bouts, that saw her win 25-9 in her semi final and 20-6 points in the decider.

“Convincing wins against tough physical opposition will set her up nicely for the remainder of her training and preparations for the upcoming World Taekwondo Cadet Championships’ said South Dublin Taekwondo Head Coach, Robert Taaffe.
