Jobstown protest trial begins today for Paul Murphy and six others

The trial of Dublin South West TD Paul Murphy and six others is set to begin today, with a jury expected to be sworn in at 2pm.

Local Councillors, Kieran Mahon and Mick Murphy (Tallaght Central) are also among the seven people who will be on trial for the alleged false imprisonment of Joan Burton during a protest in Jobstown in November 2014.

They are also accused of falsely imprisoning Ms Burton’s adviser, Karen O’Connell on the same date.

The trial is set to last for six weeks.
