Joyrider outruns Gardai in Tallaght after high-speed chase through local estates

Investigations are continuing this morning after a joyrider led Gardai on a high-speed chase through Tallaght last night.

In a car that had been taken from the Cloonmore area of Jobstown, the joyrider drove at dangerous speeds for a lengthy period of time, putting the public and themselves at risk.

According to Gardai the car involved was the subject of what they described as an “unauthorised taking” in the Cloonmore area.

The driver then failed to stop for Gardai and was observed driving in a dangerous manner

The vehicle was eventually discovered abandoned in Killinarden at approximately 11:30pm.

In statement released to Echo.ie a Garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí seized a car in Killinarden Estate, Tallaght last night, Thursday 30th March 2017 at approximately 11.30pm.

“The car was the subject of an unauthorised taking from the Cloonmore area earlier that night.

“The car failed to stop for Gardaí and was observed being driven in a dangerous manner before being located, abandoned.

“No arrests have been made. No injuries reported.”

Several videos of the car speeding through local estates have been shared online by members of the public, with many others taking to social media to voice their concern at the level of danger posed by the driver.
