June Sports Star of the Month: Jodie Browne

TALLAGHT’S Jodie Browne was narrowly beaten by a Slovenian fighter in her Point Fighting (60kg) semi-final, but came away with a bronze medal at the European Games in Poland.

Jodie, who is reigning WAKO World and European champion, did herself and he club proud by competing in her first European Games last month.

“I was delighted with my performance, it was huge success for me.

“I tried really hard to get to where I am,” Jodie told The Echo.

“It wasn’t the colour medal I wanted in the end, but it was a medal with Olympic rings on it and I am really proud, proud to represent my country.

“Jodie will now be preparing for the World Cup in September in Italy and then heads to Saudi Arabia in October for the World Combat Games, another huge competition for the Tallaght Martial Arts competitor.

“Then in November, Jodie will compete in the World Championships – so a busy year awaits the talented martial arts competitor.

“I’m taking a break for holiday for a few weeks and then its will be really busy for the rest of the year,” said Jodie.
