Killinarden CS U17s complete the treble

KILLINARDEN Community School’s U17s have had a year to remember when they successfully secured the treble for the first time in the schools history.

After winning West Dublin and the Leinster Champions League, the Killinarden boys secured the treble when they overcame St Joseph’s CBS 3-1 to add the Dublin Metropolitan (All Dublin) title to their winners cabinet in Marlay Park Despite missing a number of players for their last match, Killinarden still fielded a strong side who were well up for the task ahead.

Luke Kelly put Killinarden in front with a free kick after 20 minutes only to be pegged back by a counter-attack goal from Joey’s just before the break.

The Killinarden lads regrouped at half time, and just like the previous final came out in the second half fired up and completely controlled the game.

Dominating possession, KCS pushed again in the early stages of the second half until Bradley Byrne produced a piece of magic, leaving three defenders in his wake only to rifle it in top corner leaving the keeper with no chance.

Jake Keogh wrapped the game up with 10 minutes to go with a goal that he thoroughly deserved after his selflessness and tireless work rate throughout the game.

“Again it was a solid professional performance from the team.

“Special mention must go to the back four who were solid, Luke Kelly who controlled much of the middle for us and Bradley Byrne who terrorised the Joey’s defence,” said Killinarden Community School coach Mr Keenaghan.

“The lads were again welcomed back to school by their teachers and class mates and deserved all the plaudits as the first ever group in KCS history to bring home a treble of trophies. What a year it has been for KCS football”
