St Francis back in top flight after 25 years

ST FRANCIS are back in the Senior Division of the Leinster Senior League after 25 years out of the top flight.

Francis’ secured promotion after Glenville beat Skerries who were the closest team to the Baldonnel team at the weekend.

“We are delighted to have secured promotion,” a delighted manager Kevin Smith told The Echo.

“It has been a long season and to win Division One is great, its one of the toughest leagues to get out of so we are delighted to be playing in the Senior Division.

“We will take a break for a few weeks, return in July and take it from there.

We are really looking forward to it,” he added.

Smith also paid tribute to his management team of Simon Madden, Ian Brady and Ryan Foster who played a key role in the team’s success.

Sean O’Mahony has been in flying form for St Francis this term with 18 goals while Niall Lanigan, Jack O’Reilly and Stephen Dunne were others to impress.

It’s been a great couple of years for St Francis in the last five seasons, earning promotion on four occasions under Smith.
