Leah is at the cutting edge in helping Rapunzel Foundation

A YOUNG girl from Tallaght went that extra length to support children who have lost their hair through illness – and also to raise money for a Tallaght mental health awareness group.

Leah McNulty (12), from Kingswood, got 19 inches of her hair cut in Copper Gold Hair Studio in Belgard and donated it to the Rapunzel Foundation, a charity which makes wigs for children who have lost their hair through an illness.

Leah also invited family and friends to sponsor her haircut and raised an impressive €800 for the NINA (Need Information Need Advice) for Life community-led mental health awareness group – which was founded in 2013 by members of the Tallaght community.

Jean Haas, one of the founders of NINA, told The Echo: “Everyone at NINA would like to say a very big thank you to Leah.

“We’re overwhelmed by the amount of money she raised and it will go towards education and motivation days around mental health awareness and our family fun day on July 1.”

The group is also holding a NINA for Life suicide awareness sunrise walk on May 6 at 4am, which leaves the Kingswood Community Centre.

All donations will be used for mental health education and awareness.
