‘Legends’ charity game raises €3,000 for young Bradley (9)

A CHARITY football match raised €3000 to help a young boy with autism get the help he needs.

On Friday, June 10, Sacred Heart FC in Killinarden organised a charity game which involved ‘A Sacred Heart FC Legends’ team against a team of ‘Killinarden FC Legends’, which was played in support of local man Derek Dixon and his son, Bradley.

As previously reported in The Echo, 9-year-old Bradley Dixon Murtagh suffers from severe autism as well as sensory processing disorder, global developmental delay and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

Alan Gibbons of Sacred Heart FC said that the match raised a total of €3000, bringing the total amount on Bradley’s GoFundMe page to €6500.

“All money from this is being used to make improvements in Bradley’s house such as bedroom improvements. A darkness into Light walk has also been organised and the GoFundMe page has reached it’s target for a sensory dog”, Alan told The Echo.

The match kicked off at 7pm and the ‘Killinarden FC legends’ were the winners on the night, winning 2-1.

In a statement from Sacred Heart FC, they said the event was “fantastic” with a large group from the community coming out to support Derek and Bradley.

“It was great to see many club members from over the years and to us legends of the club in their own right come together for such a great event.

“A massive thank you to all those who came out and supported both teams last night. Derek and his family were overwhelmed by the support shown from everyone – it was a great evening.”
