Lollipop lady is subject to verbal abuse
A LOLLIPOP lady has been threatened and subjected to verbal abuse at a North Clondalkin school, which has led to garda intervention.
Speaking at the JPC Policing Meeting, a local community representative understands the abuse stems from an irate parent or guardian, who is angry with the unfortunate lollipop lady who is working to ensure kids are safe crossing the road.
“One of the local lollipop ladies is being threatened and abused at a local school,” said Noreen Byrne, Local Police Forum/Community Safety Forum Coordinator
“It has been actioned by An Garda Siochana but I just think it’s probably a new low that some people have sunk to because they are not allowed drop their kids off in the middle of the road or whatever.
“It is a serious thing in terms of somebody out looking after the safety of your children and you are being threatened and abused by somebody who is not happy that they can’t drop them [kids] off,” said Ms Byrne.
