Man charged with producing samurai sword during incident

Michael, aged 62, with an address at Avonbeg Gardens, is charged with engaging in violent disorder with Graham O’Shaughnessy, producing a samurai sword during the incident and engaging in threatening and abusive behaviour at Avonbeg Gardens, Tallaght, on September 3, 2015.

Graham, aged 29, with the same address in Avonbeg Gardens, is charged with engaging in threatening and abusive behaviour and engaging in violent disorder with Michael O’Shaughnessy at Avonbeg Gardens on the above date.

Both appeared in custody before Judge Bridget Reilly.

Garda Alan Young told the court that he had arrested Michael before the court that morning. He said Michael was later charged and made no reply.

Garda Brian Hurl said he arrested Graham that morning. He said Graham was later charged and made no reply.

The court heard that the DPP had directed summary disposal only on a plea of guilty.

Both gardaí said they had no objection to bail with conditions, that the defendants stay away from the Holmes family, that they sign on weekly at Tallaght Garda Station and that they each provide a mobile phone number that they can be contactable by the gardaí at all times.

The O’Shaughnessy’s counsel, George Burns Bl, said that his instructing solicitor would be requiring disclosure.

Making an order for disclosure, Judge Reilly released the O’Shaughnessy’s on bail subject to the above conditions and remanded them to a date in March for mention.
