Mary lives out a dream on Dancing with the stars

Television presenter Mary Kennedy got to live out a dream with Dancing with the Stars on Sunday evening as she and John Nolan danced a Viennese waltz to her nephew Dermot Kennedy’s track ‘What Have I Done.’

Afterwards the proud auntie said: “It was great to watch Dermot go from busking to perfect his craft.”

Mary, who lives in Knocklyon, scored 16 from the judges, with Brian Redmond remarking: “For a Viennese waltz to work you need positive movement. There were great positive strides – another very consistent performance.”

Fellow television presenter Brian Dowling was next on the dancefloor with Lucan’s Laura Nolan and they performed a glam-rock-filled tango to Prince’s ‘When Doves Cry.’

However, Brian, who scored 15 from the judges, became the fourth celebrity dancer to be eliminated from the show after losing out in the first dance-off of the series

Commenting after they had finished, judge Julian Benson said: “You gave us a full-on Prince experience – lots of content, lots of choreography, lots of steps.

I would like to have seen more attack into the routine. A good performance, I just needed that little extra something.”

Judge Loraine Barry said: “The timing and most of the steps you got right. Posture and poise were needed. It was good dancing but lacked impact.”

Love was the theme of this week’s Valentine’s Weekend show.
