Maxol seeking planning for demolition of part of forecourt and new extension

MAXOL is seeking planning permission for the demolition of part of the forecourt of its petrol station on the Long Mile Road, and also an extension to the building.

The proposal includes the partial demolition of the existing forecourt building (31.44 sq.m), and the removal of the existing car wash, compound, storage shed, totem signs and one fuel pump island.

This will result in three pump islands remaining, and the associated reduction in size of canopy at Maxol on the Long Mile Road Junction at Naas Road/Long Mile Road in Walkinstown.

The demolition of the existing building (180 sq.m) and the removal of a portacabin (61 sq.m) forms part of the plans.

The part removal of boundary treatments at Beechlawn Motors and The Huntsman Service Station to incorporate it into the Maxol site is included.

Construction works include a 215 sq.m extension of the existing forecourt building resulting in a single-storey forecourt building of 555 sq.m total gross floor area.

The extension comprises a retail unit and ancillary off licence, three restaurant/cafe areas, including the sale of hot and cold food for consumption on and off the premises.

One of these will include a drive-thru facility, and there’ll be a seating area, back of house areas and circulation spaces with revised facades and screened roof plant.

Revisions to the overall layout include the provision of 30 car parking spaces, alterations to vehicle circulation, a new car wash facility, and a temporary structure to accommodate a shop.

A decision on the planning application is due from South Dublin County Council by March 13.
