Mother hospitalised and Garda investigation launched after Tallaght apartment fire

Gardai have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding an apartment fire in Tallaght on Friday evening – which resulted in a mother having to be taken to Tallaght Hospital.

The blaze at the apartment on Belgard Square West broke out at approximately 6pm.

Three Dublin Fire Brigade units from Tallaght and Dolphin’s Barn responded to the emergency call, while a unit of the National Ambulance Service also attended the scene.

A woman was taken to Tallaght Hospital to be treated for her injuries. Her young child was also taken to Tallaght Hospital, but was not injured.

Speaking to Echo.ie a Garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fire at an apartment in Belgard Sq West, Tallaght.

“The incident occurred on the 28th April 2017 at approximately 6pm.

“A female in her 30s was taken to hospital and the child was uninjured.

“Investigations are ongoing.”
