Nature on our doorstep: White-clawed crayfish

Rosaleen Dwyer is the County Heritage Officer at South Dublin County Council – every week she gives us an insight into nature on our doorsteps and the beautiful biodiversity of its plants and wildlife.

Crayfish are water-based creatures that look very much like lobsters.  Both species are in fact related to one another, but while lobsters live in the salty environment of the sea, crayfish live in the fresh waters of rivers and lakes.
