Pensioners angry at egg attack on homes
By Maurice Garvey
PENSIONERS in Palmerstown have appealed for gardai to catch a gang of teenagers, making their life hell after a spate of egg attacks on their homes.
A Palmerstown Drive resident at the recent Ballyfermot policing meeting, said the gang have been “throwing eggs and sometimes stones” at houses in the community.
A fire was lit on Palmerstown Drive on Manor Road
“It’s always after dark and at senior citizens’ houses,” she said.
“We’d ask if gardai can catch this group of teenagers. Would residents get in trouble if they were to restrain these kids?
“It’s mostly happening between 7pm to 8pm, but the senior citizens of Palmerstown are very much afraid and worried about this.”
Meanwhile, Palmerstown Neighbourhood Watch have reported numerous sinister incidents of anti-social behaviour in Palmerstown –arising mostly from laneways located throughout the area.
Last week, a Palmerstown woman survived a major scare when a stone was thrown through her bedroom window.
A group of male teenagers were also sighted in a laneway throwing bricks at rear house windows on Wheatfield and Oak Court.
On Monday night, youths set fire to a laneway on Manor Road, located beside a doctor’s surgery.
“They are on a rampage at the moment,” said a local resident.
Palmerstown Neighbourhood Watch have appealed for parents to speak to their kids, ask what they are doing when they hang out with friends, and let them know this behaviour is terrifying for vulnerable people.
“How many of us have a few hundred euro available to repair broken windows – very few I imagine – look out for your neighbours,” said the group.
