PLANS for Clondalkin Festival have been relaunched by Cllr Francis Timmons (Ind), chair and founder of the new festival.

“I am holding a new Clondalkin festival June 21-23, Main Street and Tower Road will be closed.

I am hoping to build on the success of the previous village festival. I want to acknowledge the work of the previous village festival committee especially Thyes Kavanagh for his dedication to it over many years,” said Timmons.

At the moment, Clondalkin youth band are booked in for the Sunday, local historian Monica McGill is doing a talk on Monastery Road on the Saturday and a talk at St Brigid’s well on the Sunday.

Knockmitten Youth and Community Centre are doing a mad hatters tea party on the Saturday.

“We will also have a funfair on the Sunday, Clondalkin Garda Station will also have an open day, much more will be happening and announced soon,” said Timmons.

“I hope to have a booklet of festival events and that there will be something for everyone in the festival. We are open to groups looking to take part please contact me.

“We have the potential to turn three days in June into a community festival full of fun and laughter, just like the Clondalkin parade there is huge opportunities for Clondalkin in the new and exciting festival. I hope lots of groups, pubs and businesses get on board.”
