Plans submitted for apartments on site of Black Horse Inn

THE owner of the former Black Horse Inn in Inchicore, has submitted plans for an apartment block development at the Grand Canal site.
The Black Horse Inn closed its doors last year, but the name is still synonymous as a local landmark, and Black Horse is cited as a stop on the Luas Red Line.
Applicant Tom Kelly is seeking permission to demolish the Black Horse Inn and build an apartment block containing up to 56 apartments.
According to a planning application lodged with Dublin City Council on November 16, the proposal consists of the demolition of the former public house and an adjoining pair of semi-detached houses at numbers 229 and 231 Tyrconnell Road.
The proposed development is for the construction of a three- to seven-storey building, accommodating 56 apartments.
The apartments are comprised of 37 one-bed apartments and 19 two-bed apartments, with all apartments to have balconies/ ground-floor terraces.
Proposals also provide for a ground-floor café (106.4m2), with associated outdoor terrace.
Vehicular access to the development will be from Tyrconnell Road, with a proposed car-lift to the underground car park which accommodates six car-parking spaces and 40 bicycle-parking spaces.
At surface level, there will be four car-parking spaces and 16 bicycle-parking spaces.
The development also provides for all associated site development works, hard and soft landscaping, boundary treatments, ground floor refuse/storage/plant rooms (43.5m2), all on a site area of 0.16 hectares.
Dublin City Council have yet to make a decision on the planning application.
