Powerful Play ‘Isla’: Production is part of the Dublin Theatre Festival

From September 27 to October 7, Verdant Productions, Four Rivers, and The Civic Theatre will host the Irish premiere of Tim Price’s ‘Isla’ as a part of the Dublin Theatre Festival, writes Ryan Butler.

Although Roger despises technology, he starts to warm up to his daughter’s virtual ‘Isla’ talking assistant once she gives it to him.

This powerful and thought-provoking play explores the intricate themes of loss, resiliency, and the ability of people to remain hopeful in the face of hardship.

Though they reflect on the potential drawbacks and amusing outcomes of our growing reliance on artificial intelligence, the characters—who at times are hilarious—also serve as a reminder of what makes human interactions so wonderfully unpredictable and funny.

It is an insightful and unsettling look at our relationship with artificial intelligence.

Davey Kellegher is in charge of directing ‘Isla’, which also features set design by Florentina Burcea, lighting design by Colin Doran, costume design by Mae Leahy, and sound design by Ben Keighley.
