THE PRINCIPAL of Coláiste Bríde secondary school in Clondalkin has been appointed the new CEO of Le Chéile Schools Trust.

Principal Marie-Thérèse Kilmartin will be temporarily leaving Coláiste Bríde and taking up the new position in the upcoming autumn when the schools are back.

Leading around 74 Le Chéile primary and post-primary schools in the area, Ms Kilmartin says she is looking forward to the new position.

Speaking with The Echo, Ms Kilmartin said: “I am moving to Le Chéile – it is a group of schools, so I will be CEO.

“It is working with 15 congregations, just like our school is a presentation school and we are part of the Ceist Trust, this is the Le Chéile Trust and it is another group of schools.

“I will be working with congregations such as The Dominicans, The De La Salle and The Ursulines.”

Speaking about her temporary absence from Coláiste Bríde, Ms. says that there is a “fantastic team” there who will continue the great work.

“It is an honour and a privilege to have the opportunity to work with a number of other schools and to know that in Coláiste Bríde that they have great confidence in the team we have built up over the years and that I am handing on to a fantastic team to keep the legacy we created.

“Coláiste Bríde has been very good to me, and it has been fantastic to work with all of the people such as my students, my past pupils, the staff and all of the parents.

“I am only gone temporarily to learn some new skills and keep going forward. I know Coláiste Bríde is in great hands and that all the traditions we have built over the years will be kept and be continued.”

Ms Kilmartin said that there are already “exciting plans” for the upcoming school year in motion, with a lot of work happening over the summer months.

Louise Ronan will step into the position of acting Principal for Coláiste Bríde, whilst Ms Kilmartin remains as De Facto Principal of the school with Mairead Early taking the role of Deputy Principal.
