Projects showcase all their work and services to Judge

TALLAGHT District Court judge Patricia McNamara recently visited the Tallaght Rehabilitation Project (TRP) in Jobstown and met with clients and staff, and learned more about drug projects in the area.

Judge McNamara visited the service’s Kiltalown House premises on March 22 and she received a tour of the house and its gardens.

The visit featured presentations from TRP and other frontline services in Tallaght, and the visit stemmed from a discussion led by the Tallaght Drug and Alcohol Task Force last year.

Pat Daly, the manager of TRP, told The Echo: “The idea to invite the judge to visit the treatment, rehabilitation, and family support services within the Tallaght wide area was first discussed at Task Force level last year 2023.

“The fact that some frontline services had clients involved in the judicial and probation systems in Tallaght, it was thought that it would be a good idea to not only invite the judge to view the services the clients were receiving, but also the positive progression the clients were experiencing whilst engaging in local services.”

During the visit, Judge McNamara was also shown some  promotional videos from Tallaght Drugs and Alcohol Task Force (TDATF), TRP and the other services from the area.

It was also suggested during the visit that frontline services  should do outreach presentations to the probation services in Tallaght, and probation staff should be invited to visit the services too.

The aim of this would be for the various services to work in unison for the needs of clients and their families to look at positive alternatives for people in the courts and probation services, said Mr Daly.

“It was a fantastic opportunity  for all the projects present to be able to showcase some of their  work and the vital services on offer in the community,” added Mr Daly.

“TRP would like to extend our gratitude to Judge McNamara for  taking the time to visit our  facility, and TRP would also like to thank our colleagues from the TDATF and other projects in the area.”
