Sad news as the passing of Abbey McGuinness (5) from Tallaght is confirmed
Sad news broke on Saturday morning when it was confirmed that young Abbey McGuinness (5) from Tallaght, who had been diagnosed with Battens disease, passed away.
Via Abbey’s Army Facebook page, a post last Wednesday said that Abbey was struggling with a second viral infection in the last couple of weeks.
Abbey had not been sleeping and had a high temperature due to the infection, and on Saturday the family gave the latest update, confirming Abbey had grown ‘her angel wings’.
The post said: “Abbey grew her angel wings this morning. After a couple of days fighting pneumonia she lost her battle.
“She did not suffer, she went so peacefully at home, thanks to BUMBLEance for bringing her home, making it such a peaceful time for us and Abbey.
“We cannot thank enough the staff of Tallaght Hospital and Lauralynn who looked after all her needs at home and stayed with her every step of the way
“She is at peace and with Granda Fran who is five years gone today.”
Everyone at the Echo Newspaper and Echo.ie would like to extend their sincere condolences to Abbey’s family at this sad time, may she rest in peace.
