Sean Walsh Park: new renovated playground opens

MAYOR Emma Murphy has officially opened the new and renovated playground in Sean Walsh Park in Tallaght,  reports Nedim Dzin.

Sean Walsh Park provides a variety of universally accessible play facilities that will encourage active play for a wide range of ages and abilities.

The features and possibilities in the playground have been designed to support imaginative play, which appears to be critically important for young children.

Mayor Emma Murphy spoke at the event and said: “This opening ceremony marks the delivery of a significant project for young people.

“I am certain that this revamped playground will continue to be popular, and I wish the local children many happy hours of play here in the years to come.”

The Mayor also paid homage to the local community and local schools, including St Dominic’s National School, for their continuous support of the popular park, and thanked the council staff for managing the project.

Following the opening of the newly revamped park, Mayor Emma Murphy raised the Green Flag in Sean Walsh Park to celebrate it winning a Green Flag Award for the fifth consecutive year.

The Green Flag Award Scheme recognises and rewards well managed parks and sets a benchmark standard for the management of recreational outdoor spaces around the world.
