St Mary’s duo are named in Ireland squad

ST MARY’S pair George Bates and Michael Frayne have both been named on one of two Ireland panels selected to compete in and International Round Robin Tournament in the National Stadium this weekend.

Ireland will play host to squads from France, Germany, Italy and Russia in a competition that will be used as part of the IABA selection process for the European Championships in Ukraine in June.

Bates will be coming into this competition off the back of his second win in the German Bundesliga in Hanover earlier this month.

The Tallaght lightweight, who was representing BSK Hannover-Seelze, took a unanimous decision in his clash with Ronny Beblik.
