Strawberry Beds site on market for guide price of €180k

A SITE at the Strawberry Beds in Lucan that contains the ruins of two old cottages has gone on the market with a guide price of €180,000.

The 1.05-acre site is described as development land, and the listing for the site by Conor O’Cleirigh details the history of it.

“There were originally two semi-detached cottages on the land which were at one point occupied by ferrymen who provided a ferry service across the River Liffey.

“Early Ordnance Survey Ireland maps show a ferry-crossing on the River Liffey marked at this location.

“The lands are now totally overgrown with vegetation and only the ruins now remain of the original two cottages.”

It is noted in the listing that the land, which is fronted by Lower Lucan Road and is bordered by Rugged Lane to the rear, is zoned to protect and enhance high amenity areas.

The last planning application concerning the site was lodged with Fingal County Council in 2020, when permission for the reinstatement of the cottages and the relocation of the vehicular access to the site was refused.
