Tallaght Master shine at Track & Field C’ships

Tallaght athletes excelled at the National Masters Track & Field Championships in Tullamore last Sunday where Sharon Tighe won the O/50 3000m title and Laura Mc Donnell won Silver in the O/35 3000m with a time of 10.30.47.

There was further success with Derek Kennedy winning the O/35 100 with a time of 12.17and he added silver in the 200m with a time of 24.93 while Michelle Metcalfe w0n Bronze in the O/35 400m. Sean Mc Donnell did well when finishing 5th in his 800m with a new seasons best time of 2.19.

The clubs women ended the day on a high note after Laura Mc Donnell, Anita Carruth, Sharon Tighe and Michelle Metcalfe combined to win silver in the 4X400m relay.

Following amendments to the results of the National Half Marathon which took place the previous week Tomas Fitzpatrick was rewarded with Silver in the O/35 category and the Tallaght Women’s team of Sara Kinsella, Suzanna O’Callaghan and Lorraine Warburton finished fourth of the 16 scoring teams in the Senior team category with a combined time of 5.20.55 and the O/50 Men’s team Shay Murphy, Derek Quinn and Alan McCabe also finished fourth with a combined time of 4.56.16.
