The 17-year-old, who has an address in Tallaght, is charged with four counts of sexually assaulting a female between October 2016 and March 2017 at his address in Tallaght.

He is also charged with four counts of sexually assaulting another female at his address in Tallaght also on dates between October 2016 and March 2017.

The teenager was accompanied by his mother in court.

Giving evidence of arrest, charge and caution by certificate, Sergeant Michael Ahern told Judge Paula Murphy that there were eight charges of sexual assault. He said that the DPP had directed trial on indictment and indicated that the teenager could be sent forward on a signed plea.

The teenager’s counsel, Shane Manus Quinn Bl, asked Judge Murphy to put the case back for a Section 75 hearing under the Children’s Act on whether his client is mature enough to be dealt with in the Circuit Court. Judge Murphy remanded the teenager on continuing bail for three weeks for the section 75 hearing.
