Third series of public health talks are a resounding success
THE third series of Innovating Community Health public talks hosted by the Academic Primary Care Collaborative (APCC) Tallaght proved a resounding success.
The talks, which took place in the Russell Centre, Tallaght, were well attended both in-person and online.
The last talk in the series saw Prof Annemarie Bennett, Assistant Professor in Dietetics Discipline of Clinical Medicine at Trinity College Dublin, deliver an informative talk titled ‘Healthy Eating Across The Lifecourse’.
This was followed by a presentation about ‘Healthy Eating As We Age’ by Chloe Murphy, Community Food and Nutrition Worker with South Dublin County Partnership.
Among the regular attendees were members of the University of the Third Age (U3A) group from An Cosán, Jobstown.
An Cosán Outreach Coordinator Imelda Hanratty, who is also a member of APCC, says, “Our U3A ladies enjoyed attending the informative talks; they learned something new at each of them.
“The talks form an integral part of our lifelong learning curriculum, and they encouraged their friends to attend too.
“We are hugely grateful to Lena Doherty of Trinity College Dublin for her support in organising these talks.”
Imelda Hanratty and APCC’s Community Representative, Sineád Tighe, each received a beautiful bouquet of flowers from APCC Chair, Prof Susan Smith, in recognition of the work they put into organising the talks.
The next series of talks will begin on September 19 when the speaker will be Prof Bill Phillips, a visiting academic from the United States.
