Clondalkin Tidy towns resumed on Saturday tidying up the pathways at Knockmeenagh Lane and St Brigid’s well in preparation for this week’s festival, reports Stephen Farrell.

“We were cutting back the shrubbery, thorns, clearing away the weeds, picking up any litter and so making the pathway clear for the pilgrims who will be going by,” said Pat O’Sullivan, Clondalkin Tdy Towns.

“The men’s shed will also be working with the Council there tomorrow [Tuesday],” Pat added. “It’s a collaborative effort between various groups assisting in the preparations for St Brigid’s festival,” said Pat.

The tidy towns also highlight any issues that arise such as graffiti, said Pat.

The tidy towns group meet every Saturday morning in the car-park of the South Dublin County Council building, Ninth Lock Road, Clondalkin and usually spend about two hours tidying up the locality.

Pat also wished to thank the Tree Top restaurant who provided soup and sandwiches to the group of volunteers on Saturday.

“About 40 volunteers were out in force”, said Pat.

“We will be back out next Saturday at Monastery road,” he added.
