Two-storey energy centre planned for Airton Road

PLANS for the construction of a new energy centre at the junction of Airton Road and Belgard Road in Tallaght, to provide for a future district heating distribution network for the South Dublin District Heating Scheme Tallaght, have reached the Part 8 Public Consultation stage.

The proposed development is to consist of a new two-storey energy centre building, containing plant-rooms, office and welfare facilities, comprising an internal floor area of approximately 491 sq. m, incorporating an ESB substation.

The works also include the placement of two cylinder water tanks to the west of the main centre of the development.

Provisions for two parking spaces for service vehicles along with general landscaping and site works are included in the application, while there are plans for the site to be accessed using the existing vehicular entrance off Airton Road.

The preferred routes for Phase One of the underground distribution network of the South Dublin District Heating Scheme is also set out in their proposal.

Submission on the planned development are now being accepted from the public as part of the Part 8 Public Consultation process.
