Peter Maguire, aged 38, with an address at Donomore Avenue, Tallaght, had pleaded guilty to having no insurance, no driving licence, no NCT and no road tax at Killinarden Way in Tallaght on October 27, 2015.

Judge Reilly told Maguire’s solicitor, Eddie O’Connor, regarding the probation report, that it was “a very good report”.
She added: “I’m very impressed that he engaged with the programmes organised by the probation service, including the road safety programme.”

Sergeant Michael Ahern said that Maguire had seven previous convictions for no insurance.

Mr O’Connor told Judge Reilly that his client was not working but wants to work as a fitness instructor.

Judge Reilly told Maguire: “There aren’t enough jobs for fitness instructors. You’re not a dumb blonde. There is more to your life.”

She sentenced Maguire to three months jail, suspended for two years with a four-year ban and a €500 fine for having no insurance. She also sentenced Maguire to one months jail, suspended for two years for having no licence.

Maguire was also fined €100 for having no NCT and €50 for having no road tax.
