Web developer gives other start-ups an ‘honest rate’ to give them a chance

A MOBILE web services developer believes in helping other start-ups with an “honest rate” to “give them a chance.”

Ballyfermot man John Coote, owner of JCiT web design, says many new start-ups are “terrified” at the prospect of spending big bucks on a website, that may not lead to success.

Mr Coote (32) said: “I do a lot of work with start-ups. In my experience, people are terrified at spending €1,200 on a new website, when the business might fail. My price is €300 to set up a website, which gives them a chance.”

JCiT facilitates a range of web design and business IT services to a range of clients – from high-level professionals, to early start-ups and local businesses.

John works from Ballyfermot and has a base at ACE Enterprise Park, Clondalkin – but often travels to a client’s place of business.

“I like to meet clients on their territory and try to use my easygoing nature to promote a hassle-free experience,” he said.

“In my business, I am the least important part of the puzzle – the clients’ needs and their projects always come first.”

Establishing JCiT in 2013 after the help of a Ballyfermot Partnership back-to-work grant, John has contracts with some heavy industry hitters, but doesn’t seem the type to forget about the little guy.

He continued: “One of the main problems for clients is based around the ego of people in the IT profession. An unfortunate few do not get good service, or they get overcharged. I try to keep it honest as possible. What you see is what you get.”

John attributes his love of technology to his father, and after completing his Leaving Cert in Johns College, he took an interesting career path – working in Hewlett Packard, who supported him through college in Dublin City University.

JCiT were nominated in the Ballyfermot category for the IDLN National Enterprise Awards 2016 – which showcases persons who successfully set up their business under a back-to-work scheme.
