100 hours of community service for damaging two cars

A MAN who damaged two cars near his home has been sentenced to 100 hours community service by Tallaght Court.
Richard Finn was before Judge Patricia McNamara for sentencing.
Presenting Sergeant Eithne Madden told Judge McNamara that at 3am on September 17, 2013, gardai responded to a call that two youths had broken into a car on MacUilliam Lawns in Tallaght.
She said the cowling around the steering wheel had been removed and the driver’s door had been damaged. Sgt Madden said the damage came to €250.
She added that in the early hours of September 18, 2013, Finn was caught damaging a car door at MacUillam Estate. Sgt Madden said the damage came to €150.
Sgt Madden said that at 2am on September 25, 2013, gardai came across Finn on the Old Bawn Road and found him in possession of a black glove, a spanner and a screwdriver. She added that on July 3, 2014, he gave a false name to a garda when he was stopped on Citywest Road in Rathcoole.
Finn, aged 23, with an address at MacUilliam Lane, Tallaght, had pleaded guilty to damaging the frame of a car door at MacUilliam estate on September 18, 2013.
He had also pleaded guilty to interfering with the mechanism of a car and damaging the driver’s door of the same car at MacUilliam Lawns, Tallaght, on September 17, 2013. Finn also pleaded guilty to possession of a black glove, a spanner and a screwdriver for use in theft at Old Bawn Road, Tallaght, on September 25, 2013.
He also pleaded guilty to providing information to a garda which was false and misleading at Citywest Road, Rathcoole, on July 3, 2014.
Finn’s counsel, Stephen Montgomery Bl, told Judge McNamara that his client had been going through a bad time at the time of the offences.
Judge McNamara sentenced Finn to 100 hours community service with 12 month’s imprisonment in default.
