Stephen Murphy, the club’s public relations officer, told The Echo: “It was a great, fun day for all the family. It’s an annual event, and it gets bigger and better every year.

“Lots of young kids and their parents took part. It was a great day for all club members, and for non-members too.”

While the event is chiefly just for the enjoyment of it, some of the young runners showed their competitive nature and were determined to secure a medal or trophy at the end of the fun run.
