515 households are registered homeless

A TOTAL of 515 households were registered with South Dublin County Council as being homeless last month, with a majority of 261 being single males.

The second-largest grouping of homeless households were families, totalling 169 homeless cases (433 children), followed by 62 single females and 23 couples.

The council stated all of their family homeless hubs, located in Firhouse, the Abberley, and Springfield, were fully occupied last month.

The local authority added: “Our homeless unit continues to provide assistance to those who find themselves homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.

“Working in conjunction with the Dublin Region Homeless Executive, this unit operates an advice clinic in County Hall and provides outreach services across the county as well as detailing emergency accommodation options including central placement, self-accommodate, family hubs and other supported accommodation.

“Staff in the homeless unit will organise emergency accommodation for those assessed as homeless through the assessment and placement service.”
