59 houses will complete Silken Park development

A HOUSING development that will include 59 houses on lands located beside Clondalkin RFC at Silken Park in Kingswood have been granted permission by South Dublin County Council.

The development was granted permission on December 15 following the submission of additional information by the applicant, Durkan Residential Ltd on November 27.

SILKEN PARK

It will see the construction of 29 three-bedroom semi-detached houses, 24 two-bedroom terraced houses, five four bedroom semi-detached houses and one four bedroom detached house.

The construction of the houses will see the completion of the Silken Park housing development on land which previously had planning permission for housing but was not completed “as a result of economic and commercial circumstances beyond the control of the developer”.

Additional information submitted by the applicant addressed issues with urban design, public open space and noise nuisance that were raised by the council.

The issues raised concerned a pedestrian/cycle connection, a detailed boundary treatment layout, a water attenuation infrastructure on the proposed open space and an assessment of the potential for noise nuisance from traffic.

Concerns attached to the development include the construction and completion of the houses using the same palette of materials, colours and textures of the existing housing development on the site.
