TÁNAISTE and Minister for Social Protection, Joan Burton checked in on the new Intreo Centre in Clondalkin last week.
Since it opened in June, the Clondalkin Intreo Centre has became the single point of contact for all employment and income supports in the Clondalkin, Lucan, and Newcastle areas.
The Intreo Centre is an amalgamation of the former Clondalkin local office, the Employment Services Office previously located on Main Street, the Social Welfare Inspectorate who were based in Lucan, and the Community Welfare Services previously located in Deansrath, Boot Road, Rowlagh, Lucan Village and Ballyowen.
The centralisation of these services into the Intreo Centre, has increased the public’s access to services – providing a more streamlined approach for customers, offering practical, tailored employment services, and supports for job seekers and employers alike.
The Department of Social Protection currently has 83 staff working in the Clondalkin Intreo Centre.
A full service, including an Integrated Reception, an Integrated Decisions Unit, Activation and Community Welfare Services, is available Monday to Thursday from 9.15am to 5pm, and Friday from 10.15am to 4.30pm.
The Intreo process consists of five main elements – an integrated ‘one-stop-shop’ reception service, a single decision process, an integrated activation-employment service process, social contract and employer engagement.
The new Intreo process significantly reduces the time taken to decide a claim.
Previously customers had to wait at least three months before an appointment could be made with an employment services officer.
Under the new process, customers are asked to attend a group engagement session – typically within a week or two of registering for jobseekers’ payments.
Depending on their personal profile, they are subsequently scheduled for follow-on one-to-one meetings with an experienced employment services officer.
Group engagement sessions are designed to give customers basic information on their entitlements and the services that are available to them in order to help them return to work.
The Department offers a suite of services that can assist employers in recruiting staff from the live register, including Jobsireland.ie, JobBridge, JobsPlus, part-time job incentive schemes, family income supplement, and workability services.
