Active South Dublin May Sports Team: Tallaght Community School soccer team
TALLAGHT Community School claimed the girls U17 Leinster School’s Football Championship title for the first time in over 20 years.
The Tallaght side turned on the style in the decider when they overcame the challenge of Loreto Balbriggan in the title showdown to secure the top prize.
Captained by Shamrock Rovers player and Women’s league of Ireland youngest goal scorer record holder, Ella Kelly, who bagged all four goals for her team in the final.
It was a superb achievement for TCS as seven of the players are still only 12/13 years of age and in first year so there is plenty to look forward to in the future.
“It was a brilliant year for the school and the team.
“The support we got from all the players and teachers was brilliant,” said Tallaght Community School captain Ella Kelly.
“We had a number of brilliant wins in the competition and even though we lost one or two it was great that the team got back up and bounced back again”.
Most of the players on the Tallaght Community School team come from Kilnamanagh, Shamrock Rovers and Tallaght Town FC.
The Active South Dublin Sports Awards are run in association with The Echo, and supported by South Dublin County Council and The Plaza Hotel, Tallaght.
