Adamstown men capture Leinster Intermediate Cup
ADAMSTOWN Cricket Club saw their third team win the Leinster Intermediate Cup following their victory over Greystones in Rush Cricket Club on Saturday.
Adamstown won the toss and elected to bat first, but lost their opening batsmen in quick succession.
Still, the middle order played well with Shiva Khatta high scoring with 86 and Bradley Fernandes carding 39 runs.
And the lower order batsmen supported very well, with Adamstown setting a competitive 189 target for their Wicklow rivals.
In reply Greystones started sensibly, but Adamstown’s opening bowler Sunny Sehrawat picked three early wickets, while the spin bowlers Arun Verma and Bradley Fernandes were so economical in their spell.
Greystones were unable to switch gear and were all out for 117.
The Leinster Intermediate Cup is certainly a special one for Adamstown Cricket Club as it was their launching pad during its inaugural years of 2009/10.
In 2010, their first year in Leinster competition, they entered their first team in the cup and made it as far as the decider where they were eventually beaten.
Now, with five adult teams and strong growth since then, it was their third team that participated in this year’s competition under captain Aman Sangwan.
