ADDITIONAL information has been submitted in relation to plans for an apartment development at the site of a former petrol station on Monastery Road in Clondalkin.
Chimway Ltd lodged plans to develop a four-storey apartment building, to provide 22 two-bed apartments, last August.
An apartment development is proposed for the site of a former garage on Monastery Road
The applicant is seeking permission for the demolition of the former Esso petrol station, comprising a derelict forecourt canopy, a single-storey vacant retail structure and ancillary building, to make way for the proposed development.
It is proposed that the apartments will be housed in a flat-roofed, four-storey contemporary-style apartment building to include a set-back third floor level consisting of 22 apartments with private terraces/balconies.
There are provisions for an area of communal open space, 24 car parking and bicycle parking spaces, and bin storage.
Plans for a new landscaped section to Monastery Road, to include planting and a 1.5 metre high wall and railing boundary treatment, with vehicular and pedestrian entrance and piers, form part of the application.
The application has attracted a number of third-party objections from local residents, residents’ associations and councillors, citing concerns about the proposed height of the development and the potential impact the development may have on parking.
Last October, South Dublin County Council requested additional information including a revised proposal from the applicant showing appropriate revisions to the development to address the council’s concerns about the density of the proposed development, which the council described as “significantly in excess” of the established density of the surrounding area.
Documentary evidence showing that the applicant has legal ownership of the lands where the proposed development is to be constructed was also requested by the council. Chimway Ltd submitted additional information last month, the council has yet to make a decision on the application.
