Aine scoops top award in vlogger competition
By Laura Lyne
A SAVVY 28-year-old from Old Bawn has been crowned Ireland's next social media star and top vblogger (video blogger) after winning a six week competition that will see her travel to London and gain priceless experience in digital media.
Aine O'Neill, who is currently studying English and History in Carlow College, was announced as the winner of Me, Myself and Oasis competition, which was held in collaboration with Xpose.
After spending six weeks filming and editing video, interviewing and finishing weekly tasks which included a visit to London for the Oasis UK SS16 press day, Aine was presented with prizes from Canon including a DLSR camera and compact camera.
Speaking to The Echo, Aine said: “Vlogging isn’t something that I had previously done in a professional capacity, but I was always into media, blogging and presenting.
“Soon I’ll head to London with Oasis fashion, and to do some work with Sleek and Wet N Wild make-up, The Loop in Dublin Airport and Dolled Up.
“The competition was 100 per cent consuming of my week. I’d be awake until three or four o’clock in the morning researching and editing.
“I was working with Xpose and I gave up the position to enter the competition. It was a risk, but it was worth it.
“It’s weird how it happened, it’s like it was meant to be. I’m always looking to improve. I look at my winning vlog now and I nearly cringe, I see things I could have changed with the lighting and the sound that I wouldn’t allow to happen now.
“I’m due to take part in a course with Canon to learn how to use the equipment and then with Oasis’ digital marketing team and web designer.
“These courses are something I never would have been able to do without winning the competition, and I’m really looking forward to it. It opens a lot of doors and I’m learning all the time.”
Aine will now present her vlog (video blog), called Aine Presents, through her social media accounts on YouTube and Facebook which can be found online by searching Aine Presents.
